Welcome to the newest edition of the Evett family! What a scruffy ball of mischief!! and yes.. thats what we called him - SCRUFF - by unanimous decision.
We'd been looking for a rescue dog for nearly two months now. I'd been partial to the beagles and when two of them came up in a local rescue website page, I rang and asked about them.. It seemed too good to be true - good with children, good with chooks, doesn't escape and only two years old.
We jumped in the car and drove over immediately. There were two and although perfect, they were brother and sister and couldn't be separated. We absolutely have no room for two dogs, so sadly turned to go.
The lovely lass asked us if we'd like to look at the other dogs and wondered if we had anything else in mind. We had our hearts set on the beagle - but when I saw this sad little face through the bars, I had to go and see him.
We took him for a walk around the huge enclosure they have and played with him. He seems very gentle and obedient.. and clever.
My thoughts would lean towards some sort of terrier as he is quite finely boned and lean... but then again - I could be completely wrong..
We had not expected to bond so quickly and find a dog with such spirit and personality as this.. and weren't expecting to buy a dog today! but .. here he is... He has had a permenenant smile on his face and the kids haven't let him alone.
Adrian spent the afternoon fixing the gate that won't close ( kind of important) and I went round and banged in a bunch of nails that had worked themselves loose around the fence - to stop curious noses pushing even bigger holes into it.
Morgan and Age are out walking the dog right now ( I don't think either of them have stopped grinning either!)

He is SOOOOOO cute. Can't wait to meet him. And he obviously has a name?
Dylan and I have been looking and saw a couple of hopefuls but without Dave here, going dog-looking seems like a cruel pass time for Dylan.
So glad that the Universe sent you the perfect dog. I agree with you that he looks like he's got terrier in him.
Welcome to your new home...
Congratulations on Evett #5!!
He'll be so spoilt and soooo loved he'll never leave :)
Enjoy getting to know each other
Congratulations on the recent addition to the household. Looks like he's a quite a character. Hopefully there's more kelpie than wolfhound... those things are more like a horse!
