Dolphin Feeding at Tin Can Bay

A very rare breed of dolphin is found here in Tin Can Bay. The Indo Pacific humpback sousachinesis are rare but not (yet) endangered. They are shallow water estuarine living and don''t go into the ocean. They baisically  live at the mouth of the river. There is a pod of nine, one of them is 35 years old.

Its only been recently that the cafe which fronts the tiny beach where the dolphins frequent has started to charge people to come and look. Even on the miserable, cold, wet morning we came, there was a huge crowd, all willing to part with $10 a head and more if you want to get in the water or feed them... sheesh.. But basically,,,, how can you not after making the trek out here?
