Versailles Palace.

Leaving the last most extravagant and beautiful palace till last was both great and not so great. By now we are all pretty exhausted. Emotionally and physically. Everything is a little jaded and we are getting to the point of not wanting to bother with things that would normally excite us.

I know we were so fortunate - well we had planned it that way- but last time we did all our touristy stuff, we would have the places to ourselves basically. Despite getting here before opening time and having tickets, the crowds were absolutely  incredible. The lines snaked back hours long- but we managed to skip them all and see what we wanted in minimum fuss.

The hall of mirrors was just as incredible.. Photos below 

The king and Queens apartments every bit as stunning as I remember.  The cloth in the drapes are threaded with gold and I believe took 25 years to make.

We went to the temple if love and to Marie Antoinette's farmhouse - a disneyworld back then. Still quite lovely.
